Cards for Okie's challenge

I decided to make men's cards this time. The dog and the bone border are from Paper pups, and the "DAD" is from Mickey font. On the second card, the scalloped borders are cut from PS, and the tag is from TBBM.

Daring Cardmakers weekly challenge

The challenge this week is to use three different types of patterned paper. I decided to try a stamped image on the card, and am reasonably happy with the result. Only the "frill" across the middle is from the cricut, cut from Plantin Schoolbook.

Today is special

This is for my friend Christine who has a birthday next week. It is cut from wild card at 3.75 inches. The paper is from the DCWV spring glitter stack.

wheels within wheels

When I cut these shapes as flowers for an earlier card, it struck me that they looked a bit like engine cogs, so I just had to try it!! I cut their shadows in silver to make it look more like machinery. The shapes are from the Accent Essentials cartridge. I think it would make a good card for a man.

Cricut rookie challenge

This week's challenge is to cut one of the example projects in the cricut cartridge manuals. I chose to make this from Fabulous finds. I added some stickers to the tabs, which say "smile", "memories" and "friends" respectively. It is cut at 3.5 inches as the manual specifies, but I think that in future I would cut it a little larger.

Wishing you well

This is for a friend of mine who is due to have surgery tomorrow. All of the flowers are cut from Accent Essentials, and the paper is by K and Co. I'm pleased with the way it turned out, and it strikes me that if you cut the "flowers" in different colours, they would make great engine cogs...I must try that sometime!!!

And now one for the "Papertake weekly challenge"!

I am a bit disappointed with this...the challenge specified three separate strips of paper down the card, which this is, but doesn't look like it because of my careless choice of paper...oh well. I suppose this is a learning curve!!!

The unicorn was cut from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge, outlined with the markers before cutting. The scalloped squraes were cut from zooballo (I use those a lot...so versatile!!).

My first attempt at the "Cricut Rookie Challenge"

This week's challenge was to use a border and a shape that required "piecing". Both of mine are from doodlecharms, with the mice cut using the border feature. Hope you like it.

A card for Michelle

I just love these scottie dogs from Animal Kingdom, and couldn't resist adding their spotty bows. The font is from plantin schoolbook, and I welded the words in design studio. Michelle is a friend of someone on the cricut message board, who isn't in the best of health. I'll be sending this card off tomorrow. I hope Michelle likes it.

Happy 80th

I was inspired by a wonderful stair-step card on the cricut message board (thankyou "glitterwhore"), and made this for my uncle who will be 80 in a couple of weeks. Everything has a black shadow to make it really stand out. Items are cut from Doodlecharms, Christmas Cheer, Mickey font and Zooballoo.

Thinking of you

I love all the cards that people make with multiple papers and elements, and tried to recreate that look in this card for a friend. I guess it's ok for a first attempt!! I cut the sentiment from wild card, outlined with cricut markers. The paper is more of the gorgeous DCWV "All Dressed Up" stack.

wild card flower

This was cut with the wild card cartridge, and layered up with some lovely DCWV glitter card. the leaves were welded in design studio.

Baa !

I used design studio a lot for this one, welding squares together from Christmas Cheer to make the card base and then adding a circle from paper pups to make the aperture. I love the sheep from Animal Kingdom (well, I love the whole cartridge really!). I embossed his wool to make him look a bit more...well...wooly I suppose!! I cut the tree from the wild card cartridge, and the grass is from zooballo. I chalked around the edges of the card and the aperture just to make it stand out a bit more.

Hope you like it.Thanks for looking.

DC birthday

I feel like I have spent most of today playing around with my Cricut machine...how lovely is that?

This is the last one for today though as a pile of ironing is calling to me!

This is a really simple card...cake from Doodlecharms, made a little taller and slimmer by using Design Studio, raised on very slim foam pads over some lovely DCWV paper. Next time I think I might make the cake even taller and slimmer...what do you think?

More spring flowers

Similar to the previous card. This time the backround was embossed with the cuttlebug. Flowers and basket (as before) from Doodlecharms. At least the colours are brighter than the weather today!!

Spring colours

I really felt the need of some bright colours today. Here in Dorset it is cold and pretty grey. This was cut from doodlecharms and wild card. The paper is DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies.

And Milly took it easy!!

Whilst I was doing all this hard work, deciding about layouts, and which pictures to add, Milly took it easy in her new bed!!

Wild card birthday card

I've only had this cartridge for a short while, but I love it. I added a ladybird from doodlecharms to this one. Next time I think I might punch holes around the outer edge and then thread with ribbon. So many ideas, so little time!!

Spring time wreath

I saw a really lovely snowman wreath on the cricut messageboard (thankyou Susan for inspiring me!), and just had to have a go at making a wreath.
I decide to bring a bit of spring colour into our home, and I'm pleased with the result...next time though I think I would punch some holes in the base ring to add a ribbon to hang it by.
I feel inspired to try other themes of wreath, so...watch this space!!

Wednesday 7th January 2009

Well..this is a bit scary...my first post!!

Not much to say today, and in truth not much time to say it, as I'm dashing out shortly.

I hope that this will be a place to share some of the things I make, and maybe some photo's that you might find interesting, but please bear with me...this is all new stuff!!
